OmniTRANS is a genuine multimodal and multitemporal system, which is extremely suitable for modelling the interactions between the various means of transport within an urban context. It supports both aggregated and disaggregated methods for modelling the mobility demand. OmniTRANS draws a clear distinction between static and dynamic allocation methods while at the same time offering a flexible transition between the two methods. StreamLine's dynamic allocation algorithm (DTA in Dutch) uses a proven methodology and models the effect of the distribution of traffic in time on traffic resolution, and the build-up and dispersal of tailbacks and queues.
The public transportation allocation algorithm, based on travel method modalities, is versatile and extensive, thus enabling realistic modelling of complex systems like park-and-ride, kiss-and-ride and bike-and-ride. OmniTRANS is equipped with a detailed and fundamental algorithm for modelling all types of intersection, and offers rich interfaces to define the geometric lay-out, the signal plans and the various configuration periods of intersections.
The concept of ‘dimensions’ ensures the correct storage of the data and simplifies collaboration between multiple users. The powerful OmniTRANS classes, the visualisation tools and the integrated Ruby open-source programming language ensure that the software can be used both by technicians and the non-technical. New innovations and algorithms can easily be integrated using specially-designed model classes. OmniTRANS offers a wide range of formats for the exchange of data, and mechanisms for exchanging with other systems.
A series of training courses is offered to develop the basic skills for modelling traffic and transportation with OmniTRANS, and to meet the specific needs of the users.
These training courses focus on specific topics, such as modelling the demand for mobility, developing dynamic traffic allocation models using StreamLine, developing multimodal traffic allocation models or learning the OmniTRANS Job Language and object classes.
