AMS Institute, TU Delft and DAT Mobility are collaborating with the City of Amsterdam to develop a dashboard for monitoring pedestrian flows during SAIL. This study is taking place in good co-operation with the organisers of SAIL. The pilot study uses a combination of various methods of real-time data collection to give an optimum picture of pedestrian flows along the SAIL route. The main focus of the study is on how to gain reliable information on pedestrian flows during large-scale public events such as SAIL and use this effectively for crowd management. The pilot is a first step in developing a system for measuring and managing busy pedestrian flows.
